Development Log: December 31, 2018

Final (and only post) for 2018! Recently realized I haven't posted much here in quite a while. Most of my spare time in 2017-2018 was dedicated to my Millennium Falcon model.

However looking at my renders folder, I did find some old updates from October 2017. This was intended for a CAVE2 Halloween picture that never happened:

October 27, 2017: Original Series Bridge Section
October 27, 2017: Lights and upper display details

After a busy fall semester and completion of the major modeling on the Millennium Falcon, 2019 will shift back to the Enterprise (might have something to do with the 40th anniversary of The Motion Picture).

Started with updating the existing transporter room model with more details on the raised floor and the maintenance corridor.

December 30, 2018: Transporter room corridor details

Moving to a completely new section of the ship: sickbay. Specifically the entry hall, doctor's office, examination room, and the main sick bay ward.

December 31, 2018: Doctor's office

December 31, 2018: Doctor's office curved wall details

December 31, 2018: Sickbay main ward

December 31, 2018: Overall view of Deck D model

The 'Deck D' model is still largely based on the Stage 9 studio floor plan from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This includes the main corridors, transporter room, sick bay, and officer's quarters. I plan on building or revising all these sections and more throughout the next year. Already finding little oddities and other design decisions I'm correcting after years of modeling experience since I started the corridors in 2012.

Development Log: September 8, 2016

First development post since computer algorithms and the PhD qualifying exam. More behind the scenes work on the flight engine and performance balancing rather than new models or more exciting imagery.

Still plans for this year as it's Star Trek's 50th anniversary, however just a few images to show on the anniversary of the airing of the first episode of The Original Series. #LLAP50 #StarTrek50

Orbital flight simulation. Not quite as stable as Kerbal Space Program's patched conics, but getting there.

Shadows and the Hipparcos star catalog replacing the generic starfield. Note Orion is visible directly in front of the Enterprise.

Development Log: March 22, 2015: Phasers and Stars

Testing basic starship flight and phaser systems.

Also using the Hipparcos star catalog as the background stars instead of a generic starfield.

Trying Something New

For over four years I've been updating my progress on various projects on Google Sites. Now trying out Blogger. Will be copying entries over time if I like where this is going.

Development Log: February 21, 2015: Atmosphere Shader

Amazing what a difference a shader can make.

This is the initial test post as I potentially move some of my project development logs from https://sites.google.com/site/arthurnishimoto/the-enterprise.
